🔧 Quick Info: This is an interactive file browser for your BigCommerce WebDAV storage. Browse, upload, and manage files (images, documents, assets) directly in the interface with live results – no background job, no email to wait for. Optionally get CDN URLs for public file links.

What It Does

The WebDAV File Manager is an interactive file browser for the files stored on your BigCommerce store over WebDAV. WebDAV is the behind-the-scenes file storage BigCommerce gives every store – it holds things like product images, downloadable files, theme assets, and documents. Instead of using a separate desktop WebDAV program, you connect your store once and then browse, upload, and manage those files right here in the interface. Everything happens live, while you watch – there’s no background job and no emailed results. When you upload or change a file, you see the result immediately. The tool includes a Media Manager for the main view, a File Library for browsing folders and files, and WebDAV Settings where you enter and update your connection details.

When Should You Use This?

Use this tool whenever you need to work with files stored on your BigCommerce store. Common scenarios include wanting to upload images or other files to your store without leaving the interface, needing to browse what’s already stored on your store and find or organize a file, swapping out an asset like a banner or a downloadable file and wanting to do it quickly, or preferring not to set up a standalone WebDAV client on your computer.

Before You Get Started

You need your store’s WebDAV credentials from BigCommerce before the file browser will open. BigCommerce provides these in your store’s control panel. You’ll need to enter:

For step-by-step help finding these credentials, use the instructions link shown on the settings screen. If you haven’t entered credentials yet, the tool opens the settings screen automatically so you can add them first.

How to Use It

1 Open the Tool

Navigate to the WebDAV File Manager in your Your Store Wizards dashboard for your BigCommerce store.

2 Enter Your WebDAV Credentials

The first time you open it, you’re taken to WebDAV Settings. Enter your WebDAV Path, Username, and Password from BigCommerce. Optionally turn on Use CDN URL if you want public file links, then save.

For help finding these credentials, use the instructions link shown on the settings screen.

3 Open Your File Library

With your connection saved, open File Library (or Media Manager) to browse your store’s files and folders.

4 Browse, Upload, and Manage Files

Browse into folders to find what you’re looking for, upload new files, and manage the files that are already there. Each action takes effect right away – you see results immediately.

5 Finish or Update Settings

When you’re done, simply close the window – there’s nothing to submit and no email to wait for. To change your connection or toggle the CDN URL option later, return to WebDAV Settings at any time.

Supported Files

You can work with the files BigCommerce stores over WebDAV – most commonly images (such as JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, SVG), along with documents and other downloadable assets that live in your store’s file storage. What you see in the browser reflects what’s actually stored on your store.

Troubleshooting

The file browser won’t open / it keeps sending me to settings

The tool needs valid WebDAV credentials first. Open WebDAV Settings, enter your WebDAV Path, Username, and Password from BigCommerce, and save.

I see a “Subscribe To WebDAV File Manager” button instead of the file browser

This tool requires an active subscription on your plan. Subscribe to unlock it, then reopen the tool.

My files won’t load or I get a connection error

Double-check the WebDAV Path, Username, and Password against what BigCommerce shows in your control panel – a single wrong character will stop the connection. Re-enter them in WebDAV Settings and save. Use the instructions link on that screen if you need help locating them.

I want a public link to a file, not a WebDAV path

Turn on Use CDN URL in WebDAV Settings. The tool will then give you the BigCommerce CDN web address for your files, which is the link you can use publicly.

When will I get an email with my results?

You won’t – this tool is interactive. Unlike import/export tools, it doesn’t run a background job or email you. Everything you do happens live in the window while you watch.
