What It Does

Bulk Coupon Creator is an app installed directly in your BigCommerce store. It lets you add large batches of coupon codes to coupon-based promotions that already exist in BigCommerce.

You can create hundreds or hundreds of thousands of codes in one background job instead of entering them individually in BigCommerce.

The app provides two ways to add coupon codes:

• Create via Wizard – Generate unique codes automatically using your preferred length, character set, prefix, suffix, delimiter, and usage limits.
• Import Coupons From File – Upload coupon codes you already have in a CSV or Excel spreadsheet and map the applicable columns.

The promotion controls what the discount does, which products or orders qualify, and when the promotion starts or ends. Bulk Coupon Creator supplies the coupon codes used to activate that promotion.

Coupon creation runs in the background. When the job finishes, the app emails you a spreadsheet containing the created codes. If any codes fail, the results include a report showing which codes could not be created and why.

The app also includes tools for managing existing BigCommerce promotions. You can:

• Enable or disable several promotions at once.
• Export promotion details to CSV or Excel.
• Edit promotion data in a spreadsheet and import it back into BigCommerce.
• Track active coupon-creation jobs from the Dashboard.
• Manage billing and contact support from within the app.

When Should You Use It?

• You need thousands of single-use coupon codes for a campaign.
• You want to provide a unique code to each customer, influencer, affiliate, employee, or printed insert.
• You already have a spreadsheet of coupon codes that must be loaded into BigCommerce.
• You want generated codes to follow a consistent pattern, such as SUMMER-XXXX.
• You need to enable or disable many existing promotions at once.
• You want to export promotion settings for review or bulk editing.
• Creating coupon codes individually in BigCommerce would take too long.

Before You Get Started

• Install the Bulk Coupon Creator app on your BigCommerce store.
• Complete the app’s paid-subscription setup.
• Create the promotion in BigCommerce before adding coupon codes.
• Make sure the promotion is configured to use coupon codes.
• If importing codes or promotions, prepare a CSV or Excel spreadsheet.
• The first row of an imported file must contain column headings.
• Confirm the email address that should receive completion notifications and result files.

First-Run Setup

The first time you open Bulk Coupon Creator, the app guides you through a short setup process.

The Dashboard

The app opens on the Welcome to Your Bulk Coupon Creator Dashboard! screen.

The Dashboard lists the coupon-based promotions available in your BigCommerce store. Use it to locate and confirm the correct promotion before generating or importing coupon codes.

Promotion Table

The promotions table lets you browse the coupon promotions in the store and review their details before selecting one.

You can also:

• Search promotions by name.
• Filter promotions by status.
• Filter promotions by storefront channel.
• Select promotions for bulk actions.
• Open a promotion to create or import coupon codes.
• Watch the progress of active coupon-creation jobs.

Promotion Management Actions

The following actions appear near the top-right corner of the Dashboard:

• Export Promotions – Creates a CSV or Excel report containing promotion details.
• Import Promotions – Bulk-updates existing promotions from an edited spreadsheet.

Creating Coupon Codes

Create via Wizard

Setting	Required?	What It Means
Coupon Length	Yes	The length of the randomly generated portion of each code. Enter 3 through 20 characters.
Number of Coupons to Generate	Yes	The number of unique codes to create. The maximum is 500,000 per run.
Coupon Prefix	No	Text added to the beginning of every code, such as SUMMER-. Maximum 20 characters.
Coupon Suffix	No	Text added to the end of every code. Maximum 20 characters.
Coupon Character Set	Yes	Choose whether the random portion contains capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or a combination.
Coupon Delimiter	No	The character placed between groups in a split code. A dash is commonly used, as in ABCD-EFGH.
Coupon Split Length	No	Breaks the random portion into groups of 1 through 5 characters, separated by the selected delimiter.
Max Uses Per Code	Yes	The total number of times each code can be used. Single-use codes normally use 1. Maximum 10,000.
Max Uses Per Customer	Yes	The number of times one customer may use the code. Usually 1. Maximum 10,000.

Import Coupons From File

Your file must include a header row. After upload, map the spreadsheet columns to the fields below.

Field	Required?	What It Means
Coupon Code	Yes	The coupon code to create. Allowed characters are letters, numbers, spaces, underscores, and dashes.
Max Uses Per Code	No	The total number of times the coupon can be used. The value must be numeric.
Max Uses Per Customer	No	The number of times one customer can use the coupon. The value must be numeric.

Managing Promotions

Bulk Coupon Creator can also manage selected settings for existing BigCommerce promotions.

Enable or Disable Promotions in Bulk

Use the checkboxes in the Dashboard promotions table to select one or more promotions.

1. Search or filter the promotion list when needed.
2. Select the promotions you want to change.
3. Use the select-all option to select results across multiple pages.
4. Choose Enable Selected or Disable Selected.
5. Confirm the change.

The app applies the status changes directly to BigCommerce and confirms how many promotions were updated.

Export Promotions

The exported spreadsheet can include:

• Promotion ID
• Promotion name
• Status
• Current uses
• Maximum uses
• Start date
• End date
• Channel information
• Additional promotion settings

Import Promotions

The recommended workflow is:

1. Export Promotions to get a spreadsheet containing the correct promotion IDs and column headings.
2. Open the file in your spreadsheet program.
3. Keep only the rows you want to update.
4. Edit the cells that should change.
5. Select Import Promotions from the Dashboard.
6. Upload the edited file.
7. Confirm the column mapping. Files created by Export Promotions should match automatically.
8. Confirm the email-notification settings.
9. Start the background import.

When the job finishes, rows that could not be updated are returned in a report showing the reason for each failure.

Promotion Import Fields

Column	Required?	What It Means
Promotion ID	Yes	Identifies the promotion to update. This is the id column in the export.
Name	No	Changes the promotion name.
Status	No	Use ENABLED or DISABLED.
Max Uses	No	The total number of times the promotion can be used. A value of 0 means unlimited.
Start Date	No	The date and time when the promotion starts, such as 2026-07-21 00:00:00.
End Date	No	The date and time when the promotion ends.
Stop Other Promotions	No	Use true or false.
Can Be Used With Other Promotions	No	Use true or false.

In this example, only the promotion status is changed. The blank Name and Max Uses cells leave those existing values untouched.

Billing

Use the Billing page to review the app subscription and payment information associated with your BigCommerce store.

Depending on your account, the page can display:

• Current subscription plan
• Plan price
• Billing status
• Next billing date
• Payment information
• Billing history

Use the Contact Us page inside the app to send a support request.

Complete the available contact fields, describe the issue or question, and submit the form. A confirmation appears after the request is sent.
