🔧 Quick Info: This tool bulk-updates product prices in your Shopify store from a spreadsheet. Upload a file with SKU, selling price, and compare-at price, and we’ll update all matching variants. Perfect for sales, cost-driven increases, or batch corrections.
What It Does
Price Updater lets you change the prices of many Shopify products at once from a single file. You upload a CSV or Excel file, match its columns to the tool’s fields, and the tool updates the matching variants in your store. Variants are matched by SKU, so the SKUs in your file must match the SKUs on your products. The work runs in the background and emails you when it’s done. It updates both the selling Price and the Compare At Price (the “was” price shown with a strikethrough).
When Should You Use This?
Use this tool for any bulk price change – a sale, a cost-driven price increase, or correcting a batch of prices – instead of editing each product by hand in Shopify. It’s perfect when you need to update both selling prices and compare-at (was) prices across many products at once.
Before You Get Started
- A connected Shopify store.
- A CSV or Excel file whose first row contains the column headers, including SKU, Price, and Compare At columns.
- The SKUs in your file must match SKUs already in your store (this tool updates existing variants; it does not create products).
- Permission to manage products on the connected store.
How to Use It
1 Open the Tool
Navigate to the Price Updater tool in your Your Store Wizards dashboard for your Shopify store.
2 Review File Requirements
On the Upload Price Updates step, read the on-screen note: your file’s first row must contain SKU, Price, and Compare At columns with headers.
3 Upload Your File
Upload your CSV or Excel file.
4 Map Your Columns
Once the file is uploaded, a column-mapping area appears. Match your columns to:
- SKU (required)
- Price (optional)
- Compare At Price (optional)
Columns you don’t map are ignored. You must map at least Price or Compare At Price along with SKU.
5 Confirm Email Delivery
On the Email Delivery step, choose whether you’d like an email when the update completes, and confirm the address to notify.
6 Start the Update
Submit. The update runs in the background – you can leave the page, and you’ll be notified when it finishes. Any rows that couldn’t be updated are collected so you can fix and re-upload them.
File and Field Reference
Your file must include a header row (first row with column names). Map at least Price or Compare At Price – mapping SKU alone has nothing to update.
| Column | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Compare At Price | No | The “compare at” or was price. Numeric. A value of 0 sets it to 0.00. Leave blank to not change this field. |
| Price | No | The new selling price. Numeric. A value of 0 sets the price to 0.00. Leave blank to not change this field. |
| SKU | Yes | Matches the variant to update. Up to 255 characters. Must match a SKU already in your store. |
Troubleshooting
A SKU wasn’t updated
That SKU wasn’t found on a product variant in your store. Confirm the SKU matches exactly, then re-upload.
My file wasn’t accepted or columns looked wrong
Make sure the first row contains the column names and includes SKU, Price, and Compare At columns.
