Missing Data Finder for Shopify
🔧 Quick Info: Missing Data Finder scans your Shopify catalog for missing, duplicated, or invalid product and variant information. It creates a downloadable CSV or Excel report containing every issue found.
What It Does
Missing Data Finder scans your Shopify products and variants for important information that is missing, duplicated, or potentially incorrect.
You choose which products to scan and which types of problems to look for. The tool then creates a downloadable report with one row for every issue found.
You can run any combination of the following checks:
- SKU Is Empty – Finds products or variants that do not have a SKU.
- Duplicate SKUs – Finds the same SKU assigned to more than one variant.
- Products Without Description – Finds products with an empty description.
- Products Without Collections – Finds products that are not assigned to any collection.
- Products Without Product Type – Finds products with a blank Product Type field.
- Products Without Product Vendor – Finds products with a blank Vendor field.
- Products Without Tags – Finds products that do not have any tags.
- Products Without Images – Finds products without a featured or main image.
- Images Without Alt Tags – Finds product images with missing alt text.
- Products Without Variants – Finds products that do not have any variants.
- Variants Without Image – Finds individual variants that do not have an image assigned.
- Price Greater Than Compare At Price – Finds variants whose selling price is higher than the compare-at price.
- Barcode Is Empty or Invalid – Finds missing or malformed barcode values.
Flexible Catalog Scanning: You can scan your entire catalog, one collection, or a filtered group of products based on handle, product type, vendor, tags, status, published status, or stock status.
The scan runs as a background job, so you can close the page after starting it. When the report is ready, you can download it from the tool and optionally receive an email notification.
When Should You Use This?
- Before launching a new sales channel, marketplace feed, or advertising campaign.
- Before submitting products to Google Shopping or another service with required product fields.
- After a catalog import, migration, or bulk product update.
- During a regular catalog health check.
- When you suspect duplicate or missing SKUs.
- When you want to find missing product descriptions, vendors, types, tags, or collections.
- When you need to locate images without alt text.
- When you want to identify pricing or barcode problems.

Troubleshooting and FAQ
My report is empty
An empty report means no issues were found for the selected products and checks.
If you expected results, widen the product selection or choose additional checks and run the report again.
I did not receive the email
Check your spam or junk folder and confirm that the correct email address was entered.
Also confirm that Email Delivery was set to Yes. The report can still be downloaded directly from the tool after it finishes.
The export is taking a long time
Large catalogs and scans with many selected checks take longer to process.
The scan runs in the background, so you can close the page and return later or wait for the completion email.
I only want to scan one collection
Choose the collection on the Select Products step. The other product filters are hidden because the selected collection defines the products included in the scan.
What is the difference between Products Without Images and Variants Without Image?
Products Without Images finds products that do not have a featured or main image.
Variants Without Image finds individual variants that do not have an image assigned specifically to them.
Why was Price Greater Than Compare At Price flagged?
The product variant’s current selling price is higher than its compare-at price. Review both values in Shopify to confirm whether the pricing is intentional.
Does the tool fix the problems it finds?
No. Missing Data Finder creates a report only. Use Shopify or another bulk-update tool to correct the reported products and variants.
