Export Variants Tool for BigCommerce

🔧 Quick Info: You can Export products variants from a file.

What it does

This tool exports your BigCommerce product variants to a spreadsheet. You choose which variants to include using simple filters, pick the fields (columns) you want, and select a file format. When the export is ready, you’re emailed a link to download the file.

If you don’t apply any filter, all of your product variants are exported.

When to use it

  • You want a spreadsheet of your variants for review, reporting, or backup.
  • You need variant data (SKUs, pricing, stock, identifiers) to prepare a bulk update.
  • You only need a subset of variants, such as those for specific products or SKUs.

Before you start

  • Decide which variants you need. You can export everything or narrow it down by Product ID, Product SKU, Variant SKU, UPC, or Variant ID.
  • Decide which fields (columns) you want in the file.
  • The download link is emailed to you when the export is ready (your account email is prefilled; you can turn email delivery off if you prefer).

Step-by-step

1 Open the Export Product Variants tool from your BigCommerce tools.

2 On the Select Product step, fill in any filter you’d like to narrow the export. Leave the filters blank to export all variants.

3 Continue to the Export Variants step.

4 Enter a Filename for your export.

5 Choose a File Format: CSV or Excel.

6 Pick the columns you want in the file on the Choose your file’s columns screen. Fields are grouped into sections (Variant, Identifiers, Pricing, Inventory, Shipping & Dimensions) that you can search and select all at once.

7 Continue to the Email step — the download link is emailed to you when the export finishes. Your account email is prefilled; change it or turn email delivery off if you prefer.

8 Start the export. When it’s ready, download your file from the tool — or from the emailed link.

File / field reference

Filters (Select Product step)

Use any one of these to limit which variants are exported. Each accepts multiple values separated by commas. Leave them blank to export all variants.

  • Product ID — export all variants belonging to the listed product IDs.
  • Product SKU — export all variants belonging to the listed product SKUs.
  • Variant SKU — export only the listed variant SKUs.
  • UPC — export only variants with the listed UPCs.
  • Variant ID — export only the listed variant IDs.

File format

Choose CSV or Excel for the exported file.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

My export has more rows than expected.

If you leave all filters blank, every variant in your store is exported. Add a filter on the Select Product step to narrow the results.

My filter returned nothing.

Double-check the values you entered match what’s in your store, and that they’re separated by commas. Only one filter is applied at a time, so enter your values in the field that matches what you have (for example, Variant SKU vs. Product SKU).

Where’s my file?

When the export finishes, you’re emailed a link to download it. Check your spam folder, confirm the address shown on the Email step, and make sure email delivery wasn’t turned off (it’s on by default for exports). You can also download the file from the tool.

Which columns will I get?

Only the fields you tick on the Export Variants step are included.
