WebDAV File Manager for BigCommerce
🔧 Quick Info: WebDAV File Manager gives you live, browser-based access to the files stored in your BigCommerce WebDAV account. Upload, preview, edit, rename, organize, download, delete, and copy public links without installing a separate desktop WebDAV client.
What It Does
WebDAV File Manager is an interactive file browser for the files stored in your BigCommerce WebDAV account.
WebDAV is the file storage BigCommerce provides for every store. It can contain product images, downloadable files, theme assets, documents, data files, and other content used by your store.
Instead of configuring a separate desktop WebDAV application, you connect your store once and manage the files directly in your browser.
Everything Happens Live: WebDAV File Manager does not create a background job or email you results. Uploads, edits, renames, and other changes are applied to your store immediately while you work.
The tool has three main sections:
- Media Manager – A visual media library for uploading and organizing images, PDFs, and videos using folders and item detail panels.
- File Library – A complete file explorer for your raw WebDAV storage, including folders, breadcrumbs, uploads, file creation, rename, delete, download, previews, editing, and public URLs.
- WebDAV Settings – The area where you enter and update your BigCommerce WebDAV connection information.
When Should You Use This?
- You want to upload images, PDFs, videos, documents, or other files to your BigCommerce store.
- You need to browse, locate, rename, move, organize, download, or delete files already stored in WebDAV.
- You want to make a quick change to a text-based file without downloading and uploading it again.
- You need the public BigCommerce CDN link for a file to use in a product description, category, page, or other store content.
- You want a visual media library for managing images and documents.
- You prefer not to install or configure a separate desktop WebDAV client.
Before You Get Started
You need your store’s WebDAV credentials from BigCommerce before the file browser can connect.
BigCommerce provides the WebDAV path, username, and password in your store’s control panel. The WebDAV Settings screen includes a link to instructions for locating them.
If credentials have not been entered yet, WebDAV File Manager opens the settings screen automatically so you can add them.
Subscription Required: If the tool is not included in your current plan, the launch button reads Subscribe To WebDAV File Manager. Subscribe to the tool before continuing.
Connect Your Store
1 Open WebDAV Settings
Open WebDAV File Manager from your BigCommerce tools dashboard. The WebDAV Settings form opens automatically the first time you use the tool.
You can return to the form later by choosing the WebDAV Settings action.
2 Enter Your WebDAV Credentials
Enter the WebDAV path, username, and password supplied by BigCommerce.
3 Choose the URL Type
Leave Use CDN URL enabled if you want the Copy URL action to return a public BigCommerce CDN link instead of the internal WebDAV address.
The CDN option is recommended when you plan to use file links in product descriptions, pages, categories, or other public store content.
4 Save the Settings
Save the form. A confirmation message reading WebDav Settings Updated appears when the connection information has been saved.
WebDAV Settings Reference
| Field | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WebDAV Path | Yes | The complete WebDAV address provided by BigCommerce. It is usually a URL ending in /dav. |
| WebDAV Username | Yes | The WebDAV username supplied in your BigCommerce control panel. |
| WebDAV Password | Yes | The WebDAV password supplied by BigCommerce. When editing saved settings later, leave this blank to keep the current password. |
| Use CDN URL | No | Enabled by default and recommended. Makes Copy URL return a public BigCommerce CDN link instead of the WebDAV address. |
Using Media Manager
1 Open Media Manager
After connecting your WebDAV account, open Media Manager from the tool’s main screen.
2 Browse Your Media
Browse images, PDFs, and video files in a visual grid. Media can be organized into folders to make files easier to locate.

Troubleshooting and FAQ
The file browser won’t open or keeps sending me to settings
WebDAV File Manager needs valid credentials before it can connect. Open WebDAV Settings, enter the WebDAV Path, Username, and Password from BigCommerce, then save the form.
I see “Subscribe To WebDAV File Manager”
The tool is not included in your current subscription. Add WebDAV File Manager to your plan, then reopen the tool.
My files won’t load or I received a connection error
Compare the WebDAV Path, Username, and Password with the credentials shown in your BigCommerce control panel. A single incorrect character can prevent the connection.
Re-enter the information in WebDAV Settings and save it. Use the instructions link on the settings screen if you need help locating your credentials.
A file I added elsewhere isn’t showing
Folder listings are briefly cached for approximately 30 seconds to keep browsing responsive. Select Refresh in the toolbar to reload the current folder immediately.
Some files could not be uploaded
One or more files were skipped during the upload. This most commonly happens when a file-type or file-size restriction has been configured for your store. Files without errors continue uploading normally.
I need a public file link instead of a WebDAV path
Open WebDAV Settings and enable Use CDN URL. Then right-click the file in the File Library and choose Copy URL. The copied address will be the public BigCommerce CDN URL.
I deleted a folder by mistake
Deleting a folder removes the folder and everything stored inside it from your WebDAV storage. WebDAV File Manager does not have an undo or restore function.
Permanent Action: Carefully review the deletion confirmation before removing a folder. The confirmation is your final opportunity to cancel the deletion.
When will I receive an email with the results?
WebDAV File Manager does not email results. It is an interactive tool, and every action takes place live in the browser while you work.
