🔧 Quick Info: This tool scans your Shopify catalog and finds products or variants without images, then produces a downloadable report. Choose to check at the product or variant level, narrow down which items to scan, pick which details to include, and we’ll email you when the report is ready.
What It Does
The Product Missing Images Finder scans your Shopify catalog and finds products or variants that have no image, then produces a downloadable report so you can fix them quickly. You choose whether to check at the product level or the variant level, narrow down which items to scan, and pick which details to include in the report. The scan runs in the background. When it finishes, the report is ready to download, and you can have it emailed to you automatically.
When Should You Use This?
Use this tool whenever you need to audit your catalog for missing images. Common scenarios include preparing to publish or advertise your catalog so customers never land on a product with no photo, catching items without images after a bulk import or migration, preparing product feeds for Google Shopping or marketplaces that reject items without images, or running a routine catalog check to keep your storefront looking complete.
Before You Get Started
- Make sure your Shopify store is connected.
- Decide whether you want to check Products or Variants.
- Decide which items to scan – everything, or a narrower set (collection, type, vendor, tag, status, stock, SKU, or product ID).
- Have an email address ready if you’d like to be notified when the report is done.
How to Use It
1 Open the Tool
Navigate to the Product Missing Images Finder tool in your Your Store Wizards dashboard for your Shopify store.
2 Choose Export Type and Filters
First choose an Export Type:
- Products – Find products with no image
- Variants – Find variants with no image
The available filters change depending on your choice.
If you chose Products, pick a collection or use these filters:
- Product Handle, Product Type, Product Vendor, Product Tags – One value or a comma-separated list; leave blank for all
- Product Status – Active, Archived, or Draft
- Product Published Status – Published or Unpublished
- Product Stock Status – Out of Stock or In Stock products
Note: when you pick a collection, the other product filters are hidden.
If you chose Variants, you can select one or more collections, or use:
- Product ID – Comma-separated product IDs to scan only those products’ variants; blank for all
- Variant SKU – Comma-separated SKUs; blank for all variants
- Variant Stock Status – Out of Stock or In Stock variants
- Product Type, Product Vendor, Product Tags – One value or a comma-separated list; blank for all
- Product Status – Active, Archived, or Draft
- Product Published Status – Published or Unpublished
3 Configure Export Options
In the Export Options section:
- Filename – Defaults to
missing_images_<today's date>; change it if you like - File Format – Choose CSV or Excel (Excel/.xlsx is the default)
- Select Fields to be included in export – Tick the columns you want in the report. Available columns depend on whether you’re exporting Products or Variants
4 Confirm Email Address
In Email Delivery, choose whether you’d like an email when the report is ready, and confirm the email address (your account email is filled in for you).
5 Start the Scan
Start the export. The scan runs in the background – you don’t need to keep the page open.
When it’s done, download your report (and/or open the email link).
File and Field Reference
The report lists every product or variant (matching your filters) that has no image. You choose which columns to include. The report is delivered as a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file, based on your choice in Export Options.

Troubleshooting
My report is empty
That means nothing matched – every product/variant in your selection already has an image. Try widening your filters or switching between Products and Variants.
Should I run Products or Variants?
Use Products to find listings with no main image. Use Variants to catch individual variants (sizes, colors) that are missing their own image even if the product has one.
I didn’t get the email
Check your spam folder, confirm the email address you entered, and make sure Email Delivery was set to “Yes.” You can still download the report from the tool once it finishes.
The export is taking a while
Large catalogs take longer. The scan runs in the background, so you can leave the page – you’ll be notified when it’s ready.
The columns changed when I switched export type
That’s expected – Products and Variants offer different fields, and switching resets your field selection.
